PRMO:, established in 2001, Patient Revenue Management Organization (PRMO) is a fully integrated, centralized revenue cycle organization supporting all of Duke Health, including Duke University Hospital, Duke Regional Hospital, Duke Raleigh Hospital, the Private Diagnostic Clinic, and Duke PrimaryCare. The PRMO focuses on streamlining the revenue cycle through enhanced management of scheduling, registration, coding, HIM operations, billing, collections, cash management, and customer service. This position will be responsible for improving overall qua lity andcompleteness of the medical record through CMS and Vizient revie ws.Throughinteraction with medical records coding staff and compliance s pecialists, theHIM-CDI staff suggests modifications to clinical document ation and coding toensure accurate depiction of the level of clinical se rvices, reason foradmission, patient severity, risk of mortality, severi tyof illness andconditions present on admission. Participates in select committees and provideseducation programs as necessary.

Thi sposition is responsible for reviewing overall quality and completenesso f coding for expired and discharge to hospice encounters. They utilize c urrentCMS coding guidelines, conventions and AHA coding clinics to accur atelydetermine if the principal diagnosis, secondary diagnoses and proce dures areaccurate so that we report the correct MS-DRG assignment. Theya lso communicatewith coders, compliance specialists and/or clinical docum entation analystsregarding documentation clarification and accurate codi ng, as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

Education

BSN or PA (Physician's Assistant) or NP (Nurse Practitioner) or Doctoratedegree in a medically related field required.

Experience

Three years of progressive healthcare experience in an acute care setting. Previous chart review experience (case management utilization review) preferred. Excellent written/verbal communication, critical thinking, creative problem solving and conflict management skills in addition to proficient organization and planning skills required. Demonstrated knowledge of quality improvement theory and practice.

Degrees, Licensures, Certifications

Currently licensed and/or registered as a Professional Nurse/Physician Assistant/MD in the state of North Carolina, preferred. CCDS, CCS, or CDIP preferred.
