Department Overview
The Cancer and Blood Disorder Program at Children's Minnesota is seeking a full-time Pediatric Hematologist to join a well-established and growing practice. The ideal candidate would have a dedicated interest in hematology, with specific interest in sickle cell disease.
Children's Minnesota is the 10th largest Children's Hospital in North America. Our pediatric Cancer and Blood Disorders program is currently composed of over 200 dedicated professionals including 21 physicians and 15 nurse practitioners as well as nurse case managers, pharmacists, rehabilitation therapists, dieticians, genetic counsellors, social workers, child life experts, interpreters, home care and hospice specialists.
We have 6 hematologists, 3 hematology nurse practitioners and 7 hematology nurse case managers. Our Hematology Program is the largest in the state with an average of over 1000 new consults per year. We have a nationally recognized hemoglobinopathy program specializing in both sickle cell disease and thalassemia. We are the site of the largest pediatric Hemophilia Treatment Center (HTC) in Minnesota. Within the HTC, we have a combined hematology/gynecology clinic and a comprehensive stroke clinic.
License/Certification/Registration required? Yes
* BE/BC in Pediatrics from the American Board of Pediatrics.
*BE/BC in Pediatric Hematology-Oncology
* Ability to be successfully credentialed by both Hospital and 3rd Party Payers.
Required Education:
* Must have an M.D., D.O. or equivalent degree from another country with a current Minnesota Medical License or the ability to obtain one.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
* Clinical competency and expertise in caring for hospitalized children.
* Strong understanding of examination methodologies and diagnostics.
* Knowledge of common medication, side effects and contraindications.
* In-depth knowledge of legal medical guidelines and medicine best practices.
* Excellent oral and written communication skills.
