The VA Maryland Health Care System (VAMHCS) is a Level I tertiary multi campus teaching facility affiliated with the University of Maryland - School of Medicine and over 100 educational institutions. Located next to the University of Maryland Medical Center with a walkway connecting the two facilities, the medical center maintains an active affiliation with the University in the sharing of staff, resources, and technology. Baltimore Veterans Affairs Medical Center is the acute medical and surgical care facility for the VA Maryland Health Care System and offers a full range of inpatient, outpatient, and primary care services. As one of the most modern health care facilities in the country, the medical center offers veterans state-of-the-art medical technology, clinical services, and research programs. It is home to the world’s first filmless radiology department, which allows health care providers to have nearly instant access to patient radiology images from anywhere in the facility and throughout the health care system.
The VAMHCS is currently seeking a Board-certified Staff Radiologist,fellowship trained in Interventional Radiology. May be eligible for the position after one year of fellowship training provided that sufficient training in the required aspects of the position has been obtained and verified by case logs and respective recommendation by the preceptor at the fellow’s training institution. Preferably, completed a specialty track course of training in an accredited program and has achieved Radiology and subspecialty Board Certification and the incumbent fulfills all requirements for recertification by time limited Board certificates.
Qualifications:
Citizen of the United States.
Current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia. The physician must maintain current registration in the State of licensure if this is a requirement for continuing active, current licensure.
Degree of Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine.
Certification in Diagnostic Radiology, Radiology or Radiation Oncology by the American Board of Radiology (ABR) or in Nuclear Medicine (NM) either by the American Board of Nuclear Medicine with a background in another medical specialty or with Special Qualifications in NM by the ABR. Fellowship trained in Interventional Radiology and either holder of current CAQ certification or able to obtain such certification once eligible (time in practice and case logs after fellowship). In exceptional situations, a Radiologist because of length of stay, may be “grandfathered” in Board eligible status. Those on time limited Board certification must maintain eligibility for re-certification.
