The Registered Nurse, Clinical Program Supervisor, works in Nursing Service in Acute Care Hospital Operations (ACHO) for the VA Palo Alto Health Care System. This position provides oversight and leadership for clinical programs within ACHO and reports directly to the Chief Nurse. In addition to the supervisory roles, this nurse assists with implementation, spread, and maintenance of initiatives and techniques across ACHO. In cases of graduates of foreign schools of professional nursing, possession of current, full, active and unrestricted registration will meet the requirement of graduation from an approved school of professional nursing. OR The completion of coursework equivalent to a nursing degree in a MSN Bridge Program that qualifies for professional nursing registration constitutes the completion of an approved course of study of professional nursing. Students should submit the certificate of professional nursing to sit for the NCLEX to the VA along with a copy of the MSN transcript. Preferred Experience: Current BLS provider card Current ACLS provider card MSN or related field 5 years nursing practice in area of responsibility with progressive oversight and accountability, demonstrating a high level of administrative and leadership responsibility and utilization of management skills including conflict resolution. Ability to demonstrate initiative, be self-directed, excellent decision-making skills, and work collaboratively with personnel from various services within the hospital. Proficient in Office Software to include Excel, Outlook, etc. Experience with VISTA or electronic charting, CPRS (Computerized Patient Record System) Grade Determinations: The following criteria must be met in determining the grade assignment of candidates, and if appropriate, the level within a grade: Nurse I Level I - An Associate Degree (ADN) or Diploma in Nursing, with no additional nursing practice/experience required. Nurse I Level II - An ADN or Diploma in Nursing and approximately 1 year of nursing practice/experience; OR an ADN or Diploma in Nursing and a bachelor's degree in a related field with no additional nursing practice/experience; OR a Bachelor's of Science in Nursing (BSN) with no additional nursing practice/experience. Coordinates ongoing data collection and analysis to assess organizational performance. Works with ACHO nursing units to develop department specific metrics for objectively tracking their impact on the facility strategic priorities - Performs a continuing evaluation and analysis of initiatives to verify program effectiveness and identify areas requiring management attention. Serves on appropriate committees and all strategic planning initiatives related to ACHO initiatives at the local level. Promotes Evidence Based Practice in all clinical environments to provide and ensure optimal patient care outcomes. Monitors the education being provided by recording the Progress and adherence to policy, protocols and track progress made by all unit and service-level teams. Contributes to the professional growth and development of individuals on the Acute Care team and ensures that staff is trained in appropriate performance improvement and system redesign principles and equipped with the proper tools necessary to accomplish their goals. Assists in ACHO Nursing Service activities and preparations for The Joint Commission and other accreditation and external reviews.
