BJC HealthCare is looking for an experienced SAFE/SANE Nurse to join our team in building our Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner team. We are moving toward a system wide approach to support the SAFE program at 9 of our hospitals within Missouri. The ideal candidate will have leadership experience as well as SANE or SAFE credentials.

Role Purpose
The Sexual Assault Forensic Examiner Manager (SAFE) oversees the SAFE program and ensures HSOs meet all SAFE qualifications to deliver trauma-informed care of the sexual assault patient, collaborate with multidisciplinary care teams and build relationships to impact the organization positively, both internally and externally working with community programs and law enforcement. Additionally, the SAFE Manager will identify barriers within the current sexual assault response team and implement evidence-based and national standards of practice.
Responsibilities
Manages SAFE trained nurses reporting through the Central Staffing Office, partners with HSOs to understand resource needs and assist with problem solving. Recruits, hires, develops orientation and education, assigns work, manages, and evaluates performance and conducts professional development plans for the staff.
Facilitates system SAFE team and acts as a resource to BJC HSOs to develop consistent standards, updates team with changing or new regulatory standards in the care and documentation for SAFE victims
Supports and assists with the growth of the existing SAFE program. Maintains a comprehensive understanding of internal, national and legislative standards and cascades new information or changes to SAFE care to teams.
Prepares and oversees a monthly SAFE call schedule to provide 24/7 coverage.
Oversees SAFE didactic education and clinical orientation to promotes system wide standards on Sexual Assault Forensic Exams. Establishes and maintains annual staff competencies.
Manages individual(s) including but not limited to: onboarding and hiring, training, workload management & performance evaluations, conducting professional development plans as needed. Ensures that the productivity and actions of that group meet/support the overall operational goals of the department as established by department leadership.
Develops and adheres to departmental staffing, revenue and/or expense budgets. Responds to changes in the business which may affect the ability to achieve the budget goals.
