The Chief of Psychiatry reports to the Chief of Mental Health Service and is the supervisor for our Psychiatry Section, which spans our main facility in Danville, Illinois as well as our 5 community based outpatient clinics (CBOCs) located in Bloomington, Decatur, Mattoon, Peoria, and Springfield, Illinois. The Psychiatry Section is comprised of approximately 20 staff including psychiatrists, psychiatric-mental health nurse practitioners (PMHNPs), a certified nurse specialist (CNS), and a physician assistant (PA). The Psychiatry Section also works closely with the mental health clinical pharmacy specialists (CPSs) who support the mental health and substance use disorder treatment of our Veterans. Our Psychiatry Section has staff located in many of our mental health programs including inpatient mental health, consultation-liaison, Psychosocial Residential Rehabilitation Treatment Program (PRRTP), outpatient general mental health (BHIPs), Intensive Community Mental Health Recovery (ICMHR), and Substance Use Disorder (SUD). The Mental Health Service also includes Primary Care Mental Health Integration (PCMHI), Home Based Primary Care (HBPC), PTSD Clinical Team (PCT), Health Care for Homeless Veterans (HCHV), vocational rehabilitation, peer support, and neuropsychology. The Chief of Psychiatry reports to the Chief of Mental Health. The Chief of Psychiatrist will split time between administrative/supervisory duties (approximately 60-70%) and clinical duties (approximately 30-40%). Duties/responsibilities include but are not limited to: Serving as a member of the Mental Health Service leadership team, including providing coverage for the Mental Health Service Chief as needed. Oversight of all psychiatric and medical care provided within the Mental Health Service. Participate in Mental Health Service meetings, mental health leadership meetings, and facility committees as a representative of the Mental Health Service and/or Psychiatry Section as requested. Development, implementation, and oversight of operational policies and procedures for the Psychiatry Section. Management and supervision of staff within the Psychiatry Section. Monitoring the Psychiatry Section for compliance with VA performance based measures and effectively addresses non-compliance. Completion of proficiency reports, personnel actions, recruitment and retention, and all related personnel tasks with support and guidance from the Mental Health Service Chief. Approving/disapproving leave requests and managing Psychiatry Section coverage. Serving as the collaborating physician for any nurse practitioners, physician assistants, etc. within the Mental Health Service as necessary. Ensuring quality, safety, and value of psychiatric services via ongoing professional practice evaluation, medical records reviews, and support of staff in implementing quality clinical care. Taking lead on the hiring and boarding of staff within the Psychiatry Section. Contributing to process improvement within the Mental Health Service. Leading teams in meeting national initiatives such as Psychotropic Drug Safety Initiative. Providing clinical services as a psychiatrist to patients including but not limited to assessing, diagnosing, and treating mental health and substance use disorders as per facility expectations and as assigned. Supervising residents as indicated. Evening/overnight, weekend, and holiday call by phone with possible need for occasional on-site call coverage during weekends and holidays. Work Schedule: Full Time, Monday - Friday 8:00 am - 4:30 pm Financial Disclosure Report: Not required Pay: Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases.
