This position is responsible for ensuring meals are prepared in a safe and appetizing manner in compliance with federal, state, local and company standards and food-related policies & procedures. This position provides a high-quality meal at all times to residents and guests as well as participates in all aspects of food production.
Essential Job functions:
Prepares food items on the daily menu as well as items on the always available menu for residents within scheduled time frame.
Keeps food service areas clean.
Maintains clean, neat and safe work environment.
Demonstrates knowledge of kitchen equipment including but not limited to: oven, slicers, mixers, steam tables, steamers, toasters, coffee pots, refrigerators, and freezers.
Monitors and reports any loss, breakage, or waste of supplies and equipment.
Can work with little or no supervision.
Can follow a recipe and cook large quantities of food and deliver a superior product.
Can guide and instruct others in food preparation and food serving.
Can maintain a professional demeanor under stress.
Can recognize needs and help others without prompting.
Can relate well with other associates and residents of the community.
Maintains current cleaning list and highest standards for kitchen cleanliness as well as follows company's sanitation and safety policies & procedures.
Knowledge of cooking times and temperatures essential in accordance with ServSafe guidelines.
Knowledge of various cuts of meat and seasonings
Demonstrates ability in a wide range of food preparation and skills
Communicates effectively with supervisor and other associates
Maintains acceptable attendance record, notifying chef if expected to be late or unable to work
Must have a ServSafe certification or become certified within 90 days of hire date
