3-Surgery is a mixed Medical/Surgical acute care unit that responsible for a wide variety of patients and services. It is the primary admitting location for surgical specialties to include: Orthopedic, , Urology, Neurosurgery, General Surgery, and Vascular Surgery patients. Medical specialties on the unit include: Medicine, Cardiology (post-intervention), and Hospice/Palliative Care. The Registered Nurse is directly responsible to the designated manager in the assigned area; the Registered Nurse is responsible and accountable for the provision of direct patient care and for the delivery of quality nursing care to a culturally diverse Veteran patient population. The Registered Nurse possesses basic knowledge and skills to apply all aspects of the nursing process within a collaborative, interdisciplinary practice setting, which will then enable effective implementation of health promotion and prevention practices, management of acute and chronic illness, and attainment of optimal levels of functioning and/or support of the dying patient and significant others. Surgical Unit Description -Modern 18 Bed Surgical/Medical Inpatient Unit that serves a variety of veterans .-Ceiling lifts, vitals machines, and private bathrooms in every patient room -Telemetry Monitoring -Average Patient to Nurse Ratio is 4-5 patients -Great Learning Opportunities with a focus on teamwork Work Schedule: Evening/Night rotating position with every other weekend requirement Financial Disclosure Report: Not required
