The incumbent is a physician assigned to the Endocrine Section and is an independent care provider, highly skilled in the management of patient's endocrine and diabetes care needs. The incumbent may work in one or all of the following units: Seattle VA Inpatient wards and Subspecialty Clinic area (including thyroid biopsy clinic) and reports to the Endocrine Section Head. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: Engages in direct patient contact or performs tasks defined by statute or recognized custom of medical practice within the bounds of state law as defined by the board of professional licensure. The incumbent will, as defined by the American Board of Internal Medicine and the Subspecialty Board of Endocrinology, admit, evaluate, diagnosis, provide treatment or consultative services to patients presenting with endocrine and metabolic diseases. Upon providing competency and receiving approval, the incumbent may also perform specialty procedures as delineated in their clinical privileges. The incumbent will take part in continuing medical education (as defined by licensure), and quality assurance activities. Beyond the clinical responsibilities, a physician in Endocrinology may be involved in the education and training of endocrine fellows, house staff, medical students, and non-physician clinical trainees. Professional Standards: The highest degree of good judgment, ethical behavior and professional demeanor is required at all times in the incumbent's contacts with patients, his peers and all other employees. Work Schedule: Monday- Friday, 8:00 a.m. -4:30 p.m., hours may vary.
