The Department of Nursing at Dutchess Community College invites applications for a faculty position in Nursing. The initial review of completed applications will begin immediately and will continue until the position is filled.

The position involves teaching a variety of nursing courses with an emphasis on high impact teaching practices, which will include both classroom and clinical instruction in an integrated nursing curriculum. The use of online platforms for delivering content, exams, and simulated lab experiences is part of the nursing program. Teaching assignments may include medical-surgical, psychiatric, maternal child health, and long-term care topics. Scheduling may involve evening assignments and clinical courses may not be limited to the immediate Poughkeepsie area.
Knowledge of curriculum development, test construction, course and program assessment and accreditation, prior teaching experience, and possession of strong clinical skills are necessary to fulfill this position.
Successful candidates will have the following qualifications and skills:
Earned Master's degree in Nursing or Nursing Education (required)
A license to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State
Experience teaching undergraduate students
At least 3 years’ experience in academic setting preferred
Current med-surg experience
DNP, PhD, or EdD preferred
Preference will be given to candidates with experience working with or teaching community college students, and to those with an understanding and appreciation of the role of the community college in higher education. Candidates should have some experience in using instructional technology in classroom or online adaptations, and a willingness to adopt new and emerging technologies. A commitment to diversity and an understanding of how diversity impacts learning and instruction is strongly preferred.
