Kendal-Crosslands Communities (KCC) provides a wide range of living and healthcare options across approximately 500-acres of rolling countryside in the heart of the Brandywine Valley. The array of options includes residential neighborhoods that are two distinctive “active-adult communities” and two Life Plan Communities. With over 900 residents, in FY 2018, Kendal-Crosslands Communities reported total operating revenue of more than $56.9 million.
Kendal at Longwood and Crosslands are full-service Life Plan Communities which provide for independent housing, common and activity spaces, and health centers that include personal care, skilled nursing care and rehabilitation programs. On Kendal at Longwood’s over 170-acre site are 258 residences, 58 Personal Care units, and 49 skilled nursing beds. With more than 240-acres, the Crosslands site has 260 residences as well as 49 Personal Care units and 62 skilled nursing beds. Each community has a fully licensed Health Center offering Personal Care and Skilled Nursing.
KCC also includes two Residential Communities/Active Adult Communities: Cartmel and Coniston. Cartmel has 56 homes on 60 acres of land while the Coniston campus has 18 homes occupying about one-third of a 36-acre tract of land atop a scenic ridge.
Kendal-Crosslands Communities is the oldest and largest affiliate of The Kendal Corporation also located in Kennett Square, Pennsylvania. Kendal represents one of the nation's most highly regarded, nonprofit networks of senior housing communities, programs and services first established over 40 years ago to serve older adults. Kendal’s philosophy is rooted in the Quaker values including respect for every person, community, equality, integrity, continuous innovation, transparency, and financial stability.
Reporting to the KCC Board of Directors, the CEO provides vision, strategic direction, fiscal oversight and leadership in the fulfillment of the community’s mission and vision. The CEO of Kendal-Crosslands Communities is also a member of the Kendal Leadership Team which includes The Kendal Corporation CEO, her/his direct staff, and every other Kendal affiliate CEO and works cooperatively with the senior staff of The Kendal Corporation and other Kendal communities, collaborating and consulting with members of The Kendal Corporation system as needed.
Qualifications and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of ten years of managerial and leadership experience; Master’s degree preferred.
Demonstrated track record of success in providing leadership within a complex organization and in building and nurturing constructive relationships within the community.
Highly strategic combined with superb communication, facilitation, negotiation, and listening skills; ability to work effectively and diplomatically with a variety of people, including residents, the Board of Directors, community groups, government agencies, etc.
Exceptional managerial abilities, outstanding interpersonal and diplomatic skills with the empathy and genuine interest to work with stakeholders throughout KCC. A track record in instilling a culture of accountability and effective delegation.
Operational acumen will include fiscal management, performance excellence, management accountability, measurement discipline, an outcomes orientation, and experience in developing programs to enhance resident, family, and associate engagement.
A demonstrated track record in designing and leading performance excellence initiatives resulting in continuous and sustained improvement.
A strong and engaging public and philanthropic presence in the public sphere and the ability and interest to represent and become the public face of KCC in Chester County and beyond.
The ability and willingness to develop innovative programs and partnerships, to be creative, and to ensure that KCC is an organization in the leading edge of providing programs and services to seniors.
