The Director of Talent Development (Director of Learning and Employee Development) is responsible for improving the productivity of Harmony Senior Services (HSS) employees by effectively developing and presenting training and staff development programs. The Director of Learning and Employee Development will identify training needs and coordinate successful training solutions for Harmony Senior Services (HSS) employees.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Strategically consider training goals for HSS, and design and develop training programs
Design and develop training programs in conjunction with the individual state’s licensure requirements.
Assist with agenda planning, development of training programs, and implementation for quarterly coordinator meetings, ie; ED meetings, marketing summits, etc.
Assist in the coordination of staff orientation for all new HSS communities at opening and ongoing for the first 30 days of operations and monthly thereafter.
Choose appropriate training methods per identified needs: (mentoring, on the job training, professional development classes, etc)
Educate employees regarding available training opportunities; ex: Relias, and provide necessary information to promote completion of required in-services
Quarterly audit each community’s staff records to ensure all training requirements are being met per state requirements
Conduct company wide needs assessment and identify skills or knowledge gaps that need to be addressed
Track new training methods and techniques, and attend professional conferences to remain current
Assess instructional effectiveness and determine the impact of training on employee skills; ie: state survey results, attaining employee goals/outcomes
Provide train-the-trainer sessions for managers
Assist with training/mentoring new HSS coordinators
All other assigned duties
Plan, organize, implement, evaluate, and direct HSS units, specifically its life enrichment programs and activities, in accordance with current policies/procedures and state regulations
In conjunction with the Director of Clinical Services, coordinate on all clinical initiatives
Train and mentor Life Enrichment and Programming Directors to ensure their professional development and growth
Assist with the recruitment and selection of programming personnel.
Manage and participate in all state surveys and assist with response for plans of correction
Audit resident records and assist communities with determining treatment protocols for behaviorally complex residents
Make recommendations to Executive Directors regarding needed equipment, supplies, and capital expenditures for programming.
Attend professional conferences to remain current and informed regarding dementia care practices
All other assigned duties
Assist as directed in the preparation and training for licensing application for the states in which Harmony Senior Services operates.
Bachelor’s degree in training/development preferred
Demonstrated ability to effectively train and develop employees
Demonstrated ability to lead by example and foster mentoring relationships
Proven ability to effectively present training materials to groups of varying sizes and educational backgrounds
Capacity to serve as a liaison between HSS corporate office and communities in the field
Must possess strong oral and written communication skills and be proficient using computer programs
Ability to successfully work with HSS employees, residents, and families to promote positive outcomes
Strong organizational skills and the ability to multi-task and complete established goals successfully and on time.
Ability to work a flexible schedule that may include some nights and weekends.
Ability to be able to travel, sometimes extensively, to the HSS communities.
Must be able to walk long distances, lift, carry, and push up to 25lbs
