Sequoia Living seeks an inspirational, dynamic, distinguished executive to serve as its next President and Chief Executive Officer. This is a unique opportunity at one of the most respected senior living organizations in the U.S.
Sequoia Living (formerly known as Northern California Presbyterian Homes and Services - NCPHS) is a nationally-recognized, multi-facility elder care system. All Sequoia Living facilities, including the three, soon to be four, Continuing Care Retirement Communities (CCRC) and the three Residential Housing communities, are located in the best markets in Northern California: San Francisco, Marin, Silicon Valley and Walnut Creek. Sequoia Living has provided more than 60 years of vital and caring programming to older persons and has distinguished itself for its high quality programs and services to the frail and well elderly. Sequoia Living is a pioneer in the development of a continuum of care for the elderly, in offering enriched housing for low and moderate-income residents and in the development of community programs to serve seniors.
Sequoia Living is seeking a compassionate leader who will provide strategic leadership for this complex multi-campus, multi-service line Senior Living enterprise. The new President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) must possess the ability to communicate effectively, think strategically, set priorities, and implement the strategy for the future. This individual should understand the rapidly expanding world of Home and Community-Based Services as well as Affordable Housing, the evolution of the CCRC residential model, be able to meet financial targets, and be responsive to and respected by residents and their families, the Sequoia Living Board, management team and staff, and the larger community in each of the markets in which Sequoia Living operates.
The CEO will be joining an organization with strong financial reserves and each of the CCRCs and Residential Housing communities are over 95 percent occupied. While Sequoia Living is well differentiated in the market with the offer of a Life Care contract, continued growth and long term transition to alternative financing models for housing will be a priority for the new executive.
The Chief Executive Officer position is open due to the upcoming retirement of the current CEO, David Berg. The next CEO of Sequoia Living will be a mission driven, strategic leader who can capitalize on past successes while creating the vision for the future. Building on the strategic plan, the new CEO will be intimately involved in the growth and development of the organization. The ideal candidate will have a passion for the mission and values of Sequoia Living and be a team leader/player who attains satisfaction from facilitating and nurturing the success of others. Ideally this individual will have experience running a multisite healthcare organization, a graduate degree, experience working with and reporting to a board of directors, overseen operations, and have worked with unionized staff. A leader who is politically astute, humble, engaged and genuine will meet with the greatest success.
