University College develops and implements university-wide programming intended to serve new populations of non-traditional students and generate substantial revenue. It is a fast-paced, nimble environment made of highly-trained professionals who love the higher education environment and are committed to providing world class education in the 21st century to a wide variety of students. Programs under this department today include Pre-College and Non-Degree programs. The department is expected to grow substantially in the future to include--in addition to post-career adult programs--custom / professional education, Pre-k through 8 programs, International students, and English Language Learning and interdisciplinary degrees. With its unique constellation of resources across the schools, University College is well positioned to develop a distinctive presence in the greater Boston landscape in reaching post-career adults as part of a truly multigenerational, diverse, and accessible institution that makes lifelong learning and engagement part of its core mission.
The Tufts Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) is a membership-based educational program that offers study groups, workshops, lectures, and social opportunities for people 50+, including retirees and those nearing retirement. Currently programming takes place primarily on the Tufts Medford/Somerville campus, with some courses offered at Brookhaven at Lexington, a continuing care retirement community. Programing takes place year-round, with two 8-week sessions (fall and spring), one 4-week session (winter), and one 2-week session (summer). Approximately 775 members currently participate in the program.
The position of Director, Lifelong Learning and Osher Institute is responsible for developing the strategy and implementation of University College's offerings for people 50+ and post-career adults, including directing the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI). Reporting to the Executive Associate Dean, the Director will work in partnership with the Office of Strategy & Program Development, the Director of Non-Matriculation Programs, Community Relations, Alumni Relations, the Career Center, Marketing, Advancement, and colleagues engaged in outreach activities across the university. The Director of Lifelong Learning and Osher Institute will research, develop, and operate a wide range of revenue generating programs to serve this demographic across Tufts University's schools, such as in class and online courses, seminar series, workshops and training sessions,
