Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, assist in the care of the prenatal mother and newborn.
Assist in the maintenance of a safe environment that supports patient needs.
Assist the obstetrical team during the delivery process and other surgical procedures.
Must be able to perform a wide range of physical activities which include moving, standing for long periods of time, transporting and positioning patients and equipment as well as constantly positioning self to provide patient care and related duties.
Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team in addition to being able to take direction.
Communicate with patients, families and staff in a welcoming, caring and professional manner.
Understands and demonstrates the core concepts of Patient and Family Centered Care (PFCC), including: Respect and Dignity, Information Sharing, Participation and Collaboration.
High school diploma or GED.
Experience in a nursing home or other health care environment.
Successful completion of a surgical technologist program.
Demonstrated flexibility in an extremely fast-paced environment.
Demonstrated excellent communication skills.
Current experience in the care of the inpatient perinatal mother and/or newborn.
Certification as a Surgical Technician through NBSTSA.
Completion of a Nurse Aide or Medical Assistant program with a minimum of 6 months of current experience in an unlicensed assistive role in an acute inpatient setting or 12 months current.
Basic computers skills.
