Lasell College seeks a Vice President for Development and Alumni Relations (Vice President) to provide the leadership and vision to further evolve the College's inventive and dynamic fundraising operation. The Vice President will create a culture of philanthropy that will further energize the constituency and drive the expansion and diversification of philanthropic support. Guided by the five-year strategic plan, "Vision 2022," and inspired by the leadership of President Michael B. Alexander, Lasell College has embraced ambitious academic, institutional, and facilities goals. The ideal candidate will build upon the College's fundraising strategy, develop alumni leaders, attract new leadership donors, and align resources to best meet Vision 2022 goals including: engagement of corporate partners; growth of endowment; and, completion of capital campaigns to meet academic and community needs.
As the College's chief development officer, the Vice President will work with the President, Trustees, the Senior Management Team, deans and program directors, faculty, alumni, volunteers, and staff to identify and leverage major gifts, and strategically engage in fundraising activities. The Vice President will also build strategic relationships with Lasell Village, an award-winning senior housing community, sponsored by Lasell College and located on its campus. The Vice President will be an entrepreneurial professional who is inspired by the distinctive role of Lasell in the world of higher education and within the New England region. A proven front-line fundraiser, the ideal candidate will possess a solid track record of increasing philanthropic support and purposefully expanding and diversifying revenue, ideally for a higher education institution. The ideal candidate will have the stature and relationship-building acumen to invigorate staff and alumni volunteers through effective motivation, mentoring, and team building, while maintaining best practices, camaraderie, and clearly defined goals.

Important & Reporting Relations
The Vice President for Development and Alumni Relations will report to President Alexander and serve as a member of the Senior Management Team. The Vice President will also serve ex-officio as staff support to the Governance and Audit Committee of the Board of Trustees. The Vice President will collaborate with the Alumni Association and work closely with the President of the Alumni Association. The ideal candidate will manage and mentor the College fundraising staff of 13 professionals. To achieve the College's funding goals, the Vice President will strategically engage and support Lasell leaders, Trustees, faculty, volunteers, community leaders, alumni, colleagues, and staff to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward individuals, foundations, and corporations. The ideal candidate will advance the College's interests by strengthening and expanding alumni networks, encouraging increased involvement and support. As a principal College spokesperson in the community and among stakeholders, the Vice President will be responsible for communicating Lasell's vision and achieving maximum positive visibility among its various audiences and diverse markets.The Vice President will lead the expansion of philanthropic revenue and volunteer support for the College. Key opportunities and challenges include, but are not limited to:
? Identify, attract, engage and cultivate new leadership donors to the College, including wealthy individuals, foundations and corporations;
? Strategically manage, refine, and expand the College's fundraising outreach to achieve maximum positive visibility among its alumni and other constituents and to increase awareness, action, and funding; this will include the creation of effective cases for support that highlight the College's excellence, achievements, and strategic plans;
? With Lasell leadership, proactively, strategically and systematically expand and diversify philanthropic revenue;
? Design and execute a comprehensive, strategic fundraising plan and coordinated annual plans to expand philanthropic support from individuals (alumni, parents, Lasell Village residents, and friends), foundations, and corporations;
? Build strong collaborative relationships with College leadership, faculty, staff, colleagues, volunteers, alumni, and other community members and, in doing so, further the culture of philanthropy across the institution;
? Serve as chief development officer and maintain a personal portfolio of top donors and prospects: focus on the identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of transformational-level gifts;
? Strategically engage the President, Trustees, faculty, alumni, and other key stakeholders in fundraising activities, providing meaningful and valuable engagement opportunities and effective support;
? Deepen and broaden relationships with alumni and donors; further the loyalty and engagement of Lasell's diverse community to encourage higher levels of support and involvement;
? Assist with the identification, engagement, recruitment, and orientation of new Board members (including alumni, friends, and community members) who will add diversity to the Board and whose skills, interests, and financial commitment will help to further Lasell's mission;
? Serve as an active and contributing member of the President's Senior Management Team and effectively collaborate with colleagues throughout the group;
? Provide seasoned management to College fundraising and alumni relations: guide, motivate and mentor its staff members, maintain best practices, camaraderie, shared accountability, and clearly defined goals;
? Align organizational resources to best meet Lasell's strategy and goals, as well as increase the effectiveness, transparency, and cohesion of the fundraising infrastructure;
? Guided by the College's mission, priorities, and vision for the future, provide inspirational and effective fundraising leadership through teamwork, collaboration, and dedication.
Ideal Experience Qualities
Lasell College seeks an experienced fundraising leader with the ability and the demonstrated track record to respond effectively to the responsibilities listed above. The ideal candidate will possess the following:
? Solid track record of increasing philanthropic support, including the purposeful, creative diversification of philanthropic revenue sources; ? Track record of fundraising leadership, resulting in expanded constituency base and improved operations;
? In all areas of a comprehensive advancement operation: leadership and major gifts, corporate and foundation relations, planned giving, annual giving, events, campaigns, e-philanthropy, operations, research, development communications, and alumni relations.
Leadership Experience ? Gravitas, professional experience, and relationship-building skills to engage, motivate, and support high-caliber leaders and volunteers, donors, prospects, and other internal and external constituencies;
? Collaborative leader comfortable working as a team with other senior leaders across the College on diverse issues of significance to the institution;
? Demonstrated success in long-term planning and implementation of strategies to achieve goals, along with the success in managing the work efforts of others;
? Fundraising vision and capability to take College fundraising to its next level of excellence;
? Ability to recruit, retain and engage Board members and other volunteers.
Communication Experience ? Ability to "make the case;" excellent communication skills (both written and oral), intellectual curiosity and the ability to elicit and translate various priorities into compelling cases for support;
? Ability to engage diverse constituents in a manner that generates excitement, shared purpose, meaningful action, and deep affinity;
? Experience serving as a spokesperson and senior liaison to diverse constituencies and communities.

Education ? Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred; CFRE preferred, but not required.
