Providence is calling a Health Unit Coordinator (HUC) (Medical/Surgical Dept, Variable Shift, Part-Time 0.6 FTE) to Providence Valdez Medical Center in Valdez, Alaska.
In this position you will:
Collaborate with team members to coordinate department activities and flow of information between teams and other departments.
Prepare medical record on admission, maintain all active medical records in designated order.
Maintain security of all patient medical records and security of the nurse's station and acute and ER area.
Establish and maintain daily communication with team and other departments.
Assist in preparation of the appropriate forms for lab and radiology tests.
Accurately transcribe physician and nursing orders to the appropriate forms for the patient care plan; flags orders for licensed staff review and signature.
Required qualifications for this position include:
High School Diploma or equivalent
Knowledge of medical terminology, medical transcription, computer data entry and health information functions
Accurate typing speed of 30 wpm
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate in a professional manner under stress
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
1 year experience in health care activities or institutional setting, preferably as a HUC
