VCU Health System's Call Center Nursing Triage is seeking a full time Serves as a liaison between physicians, nurses, and patients via telephone or messaging. Manages and documents patient phone calls pertaining to medical conditions and questions according to established policies and evidence based guidelines.
Demonstrates clinical knowledge and applies this knowledge to a specific patient population. Assists the health care team with the prevention of illness and injury, maintenance of wellness, and provision of comfort. Provides direction and education to patients and families. Accurately document age-specific care to a patient or group of patients based on medical orders and an integrated, multidisciplinary plan of care.
Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for Hire
Current RN licensure in Virginia or eligible or compact state
Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for continued employment including CPR, etc. )
Current RN licensure in Virginia
Current AHA BLS HCP Certification or equivalent
Level and type of experience REQUIRED
Minimum of three (3) years of clinical experience
Level and type of experience PREFERRED
Academic Health Care Experience
Experience with similar patient population in an ambulatory care setting or as applicable to the area of practice
Telephone triage experience
Triage skills to include familiarity/experience with client interaction on the telephone
Training in L& D, OB, Med/Surg, neurology and urology preferred.
Graduate of an accredited RN nursing program; and
If not Baccalaureate prepared, enrollment in an accredited Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing program within 24 months of date of hire; and
Successful completion of a Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing no later than 5 years (or 60 months) from date of hire
Completion of Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing from an accredited program
Certification in specialty area
